Joshua Leong

Hello everybody! Joshua Leong here! So, let me introduce myself! I am 13 years old (14years old this year), I love cats and my hobbies include, Digital Art and Design, Gaming, Listening to a wide variety of music(From Rock to Neo-Classical) and lastly, Reading!
Okay, so now, let me explain what I will be posting here on my page, I shall be posting pictures and  daily reflections about my stay at the NTU Camp! :D
"To my dear members, I wish you all a fantastic stay at NTU and may you discover some hidden talents you never knew you had!" -JoshuaPre-Camp Reflections

(Day 1) What interests you about this project, etc…
What interests you about this project?
I am very interested in how technology so much over the past decade.

What do you want to learn by doing this project?
I want to know how to integrate body imaging into applications and games.

What questions do you have about this project?
I want to see what can be achieved by using body imaging.

What do you personally want to have achieved by the end of this project?
I want to be able to see how 3d Mobile Body Imaging can be applied in real life.

(Day 2) My key learning points from each session...
1. Plenary session by Prof Kerry Sieh:
Today, we learned how layers of soil/sand can be used to date when tsunamis occurred in the past. We also learnt about late movement/tectonics and how to use corals to predict earthquakes and tsunamis. We learnt more about studying past earthquake patterns to predict future earthquakes and the lifestyle of a geologist.

2. IT for Animation by Prof Seah Hock Soon:
We found out that animation is used for telling a story. We also learnt about how animation ties in with mathematics and equations. We learnt how 3D animation is more effective, time-saving and cost-effective in comparison to 2D animation and how animation and VFX are used in movies and videos

3. Innovative breakthroughs in Nano-Science and Nano-Technology by Prof Ma Jan:
We learnt how nano-science can be used to improve things that are already invented (e.g. camouflage for soldiers, bulletproof coatings) and how that nano-science can give a wider range of colour for gems. We had a very deep insight on how nano-science can help to change the course of warfare and how nano-science can help to improve healthcare.

What new questions do you have about the topic...
I wonder what does rendering graphics mean and how is it achieved.
Answered: Rendering(To convert mathematical equations to form pixels and graphics)

(Day 3) Reflections on Applied Project Challenge: Your Accomplishments
1.Discuss how the project has deepened your understanding and broadened your awareness of the selected discipline.
The project has allowed me to understand more about how softwares such as 3D Mobile Body Imaging can help save lives.

2.What do you now understand about this discipline that you were unaware of at the beginning?
I now have a better view on what it is like to be a programmer and my "dictionary" on technical jargons about programming has been extended.

3.Describe how what you have learned from doing this project can be connected to what you are learning at school.
I can use the knowledge from this program such that I can create programs to help my fellow school mates.

4.Describe how you can apply what you have learned from doing this project. At the end of the project, what new questions do you now have?
No new questions so far.

5.At the end of the project, some new questions I have include...
I want to know more about and try out more programs…?

6.My aspirations...
Nothing, currently.
