PLENARY SESSIONS
- My key learning points from each session...
- Plenary session by Prof Kerry Sieh
Today, we learned how layers of soil/sand can be used to date when tsunamis occurred in the past. We also learnt about late movement/tectonics and how to use corals to predict earthquakes and tsunamis. We learnt more about studying past earthquake patterns to predict future earthquakes and the lifestyle of a geologist.
- IT for Animation by Prof Seah Hock Soon
We found out that animation is used for telling a story. We also learnt about how animation ties in with mathematics and equations. We learnt how 3D animation is more effective, time-saving and cost-effective in comparison to 2D animation and how animation and VFX are used in movies and videos
- Innovative breakthroughs in Nano-Science and Nano-Technology by Prof Ma Jan
We learnt how nano-science can be used to improve things that are already invented (e.g. camouflage for soldiers, bulletproof coatings) and how that nano-science can give a wider range of colour for gems. We had a very deep insight on how nano-science can help to change the course of warfare and how nano-science can help to improve healthcare.
